The wonderfully strange world of kids

“My kid had a school assignment to write about what he was grateful for. He was sure this meant what he was grateful for ‘that happened at the holiday table,’ not in general. Okay then. ‘I’m grateful Nana made the pumpkin pie just for me, even though Papa only let me have one piece. I’m grateful that my aunt didn’t drink gravy out of the pitcher like she did last year.’ It went on and on, all of it weird as hell. It was tremendous, I was so proud for him to turn that one in.”
